About

I saw my picture on the bathroom door

So, you’d like to know a little about me, eh? Well, let see here. I’ve been a husband since 2002 and a father since 2007. Both are wonderful journeys and they have taken me to very different places in life. After college graduation, and getting married, we moved away from our home state to chase my career and establish our independence. Everything seemed to be going OK in the new city, so we bought our first house. Three months later I was laid off and there were no engineering jobs in my field anywhere to be found. So we moved back ‘home’.

In 2007 I passed the Professional Engineering exam and now I am a real-life card carrying Engineer. Structural Engineering is my relm — doing buildings, no bridges for me. I’ve worked on projects from Pensacola, Florida to Spokane, Washington – and quite a few places in the middle.

We’ve done some stupid things with money as well, but we’ve worked our way out of debt and now only owe on our current home. While we were digging out of our hole, I wrote a debt snowball spreadsheet that I’ve shared online for quite a while. I’ve moved the spreadsheet itself from my old geocities account to The Bathroom Door. A link to it can be found at the top of the page or you can click here. The spreadsheet itself hasn’t changed (other than updating the header and footer). It is donationware.
