Right on, brother! Finding out that you must take responsilibity for your own financial health is not what many "stimulus package" Americans want to hear. But, like it or not, it's the truth. We did the FPU class and would take it again in a heartbeat as a refresher. But it's liberating to know that you DON'T have to be under the thumb of a credit card or a pile of debt to live a happy, successful life in America today. The best thing we ever did was buy a car outright and not have to worry about financing it. Is it new -- um, no, not even close. But that money we DON'T spend on a car payment goes toward paying off debt and buying groceries. Like you said, it's simple!

i am enjoying your blogs. i once got suckered into a 700 dollar seminar by a guy when i worked at the first car lot. closed his pitch by saying "now who here is willing to make an investment in the future of themselves and their family?"
Hell of a close, especially considering that i am sitting directly beside the owner of the company.
all i have to do is sell twelve cars by the end of the month, and i get my enrollment fee back. i made it, but only by cheating the system and buying half a deal on the last day from another salesman. anyway, i digress.
so i go to this thankfully tax deductable sales meeting. an all day meeting, and one that i am still getting email solicitations from 2 years later. starts at 8 am, even though my brain doesn't switch to 'on' until about 9:15. from 8-12 it's decent information, structured, something that just might help my career. break for lunch.
return from lunch, 15 minutes more of career building stuff, and then...... an indoctrination into scientology. i kid you not. an hour and a half of scientology and how good it has been to him, and how many successful hollywood types are scientologists, and how scientolgy can CHANGE MY LIFE.
fan-effin-tastic. 700 bucks to get preached to, and not even the kind of preaching i can sink my teeth into. some nut job telling me i need to join a religion that doesn't even tell you what you are worshipping until you have reached some level of enlightenment that THEN reveals that you are praying to the little guy that burst out of people in Alien.

what a load of garbage.

i was offended, and i did not order a damn thing from him when it came time for his gazillion-dolla- value-fo- only-$159.99 cd collection that i was able to finance if i didn't have the cash that day. not make a low low payment of $19.99 for 8 months, but friggin FINANCE. payment would have been 25 dollars a month for only a year. i'm not a mathematical genius or anything, but that is $300!!!!!!!!! no thanks, jack ass. but i did appreciate wasting an entire day on this crap.
